Mother's Day Brunch
We look forward to our second annual Mother’s Day Brunch on May 13 at 10:00 am at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 211 Roleto. As usual, this will be a potluck event, and this time we are asking you to RSVP so that we will be well prepared.
Some suggestions are egg dishes, waffle mix and waffle iron, with the trimmings. Bacon, ham, or sausage could be your choice. How about some biscuits and gravy? Of course, fresh breads, muffins and coffee cakes are most welcome too. Maybe a fruit platter is more interesting to you. There will be coffee and fruit juice provided. As most of you know, the kitchen area is a wonderful setting for our meals, as all the conveniences of home are there for us to use. There is an oven, microwave and refrigerator space we are welcome to use. Papa Joe will be there with his omelet pan making the famous Chicken Paradise omelets with the freshest eggs in town.
Our speaker for this special event is member Amy Trimble, a celiac mother of twin celiac pre-schoolers. Amy is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and will have some suggestions about how families can adjust to a diagnosis like celiac disease. As we all know, this affects everyone in the family. Amy will also share some tips on reducing stress. Dress comfortably, as some of us will want to sit on the floor, and others will choose to use a chair to participate in some deep breathing and relaxation processes. Amy is a certified yoga instructor and will share some simple poses that allow us to go back to our daily lives with a more relaxed attitude.
We hope you will join us. You don’t have to be a mom to attend. You can bring your mom, your children, your grandmother and other family members. Please remember to give me a call at 210-340-0648 or e-mail me at annebarfield@satx.rr.com and let me know what you intend to bring. We want to be sure there is a wide range of dishes to interest everyone. Also let me know how many family members to expect. Look forward to seeing you there!

Chair,
May Newsletter
Our May newsletter will be mailed later than usual this month. We are converting over to Bulk Mail, which will reduce our postage costs. This is a complex change, and has put us behind the curve in getting the May issue to you as early as we would like. The newsletter should be mailed next week. Please accept our apologies for this delay.
Thank you.
